Financial Hardship

Unexpected circumstances can make it difficult to meet financial obligations. If you are struggling to pay a claims related amount (for example, an excess or a claims related debt or recovery), we may be able to help.

This support relates to claims related amounts. If you need help paying premiums, please contact your broker as the first point of contact.

How We Can Help

Claims related debts and excess payments

If you are having difficulty repaying a claims related debt or paying an excess due to financial hardship, we will consider your circumstances and discuss options that may help, such as:

  • extending the due date (time to pay)
  • setting up payments by instalments
  • temporarily postponing or pausing one or more payments
  • other arrangements, including a combination of the options above
  • in limited circumstances, a reduced settlement amount and/or a full or partial waiver

We consider requests on a case by case basis. We may ask for information to understand your circumstances and what support is available. We only ask for what is reasonably necessary, and in some situations a verbal or written declaration may be enough.

Urgent financial need

If you are entitled to a benefit under policy issued by us and you tell us you have an urgent financial need, we will prioritise the assessment of your claim. In some cases, we may be able to consider an advance payment to provide short-term assistance.
