General Insurance Code of Practice

We support the General Insurance Code of Practice ('the Code'), a voluntary industry code developed by the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) to promote higher standards of service and professionalism across the general insurance industry. The Code aims to:

  • commit insurers and the professionals they rely upon to high standards of service
  • provide informed, transparent and constructive relationships between insurers and their customers
  • maintain trust and confidence in the general insurance industry
  • provide fair and effective processes for resolving complaints
  • support continuous improvement through education and training.

Lloyd's has adopted the Code under arrangements agreed with the ICA. As a Lloyd's coverholder, we are required to support and comply with the Code where it applies. This means that when you take out insurance arranged by us, you can expect standards of service and conduct that are consistent with the Code from both us and the insurers we represent.

Further information about the Code, including a copy of the Code, is available on the Insurance Council of Australia's website.
